why is this happening, what can I do?

Sent to Health Experts October 24 07:19 PM

I had a sudden onset of severe neck pain following several days of headaches. It was so bad I actually went to the ER for help, I also told the DR my face was twitching.. The DR said it was a spasm and sent me home with muscle relaxers. It has been 2 weeks. The pain in my neck is not completely gone, I stopped taking the muscle relaxers about 5 days ago. Over the last few days the twitching in my face has gotten worse. I want to punch myself in the face to make it stop! Both eye brows are spasming, my left eyelid in the corner, and the right corner of mouth. It is constant and it is driving me crazy. I have also been having severe hand tremors off and on for a few weeks. Please help!

I would suggest getting another opinion or returning to the ordering doctor. You need to have a CAT scan or MRI or both to rule out a problem in the brain tissue. You also need an EEG (brain wave test) to see if there is other seizure activity that is present in the brain (subclinical seizures are spots/foci in the brain that are super excited and are firing - they cause seizures or tremors, but sometimes there are some that are present on an EEG, but don't show in muscle activity). If you have seizures you need very different medicines that will stop them and if there is a physical cause such as a tumor it needs to be treated as soon as possible for the best outcome!
