Sent to Health Experts December 04, 2006 1:39 p.m.

I have had a funny sinsation in my left arm. It runs down the underside to start with, faint like, almost like my arm is sensitive to touch or like the feeling you have after you have gotten goosebumps, you notice something, but can't put your finger on it. You can feel that you arm is feeling different from the rest of your body, but does not affect the strength or the ability to do anything. I have nerve tests done and they say nothing wrong there. Everything checked out fine. It went away for about five months and now is back along with the cold weather. I wondered about a blockage. Sometimes I find myself rubbing the arm just to get rid of the strange sinsation that is has.

HI! I would like to ask a few questions so I may be better able to help you...

Are you currently taking any medications?

Do you notice any discoloration to the sensitive area?

Do you notice it more when you have been active and using the arm, or does is just come about anytime?

Is it on the underside of the upper or lower arm?

I look forward to helping you with this concern. Donna RN

YES FOR BLOOD PRESSURE/DON'T KNOW WHAT NAME BUT HAVE BEEN TAKING IT FOR A COUPLE YEARS ALSO FOR ACID REFEX WHICH I HAVE BEEN TAKING FOR SEVERL YEARS / NOTHING ELSE

NO DISCOLORATION / ALSO IT IS MY ENTIRE ARM

ANY TIME / WHEN I WAS TESTED FOR NERVE DAMAGE A YEAR AGO I WAS HAVING DEEP TINGLING WHICH I CANNOT EXPLAIN THE FEELING AS IT FELT LIKE LIGHT AND THEN GOT DEEP INTO THE SKIN/ TINGLING IS NOT A GOOD WORD, BUT CANNOT THINK OF WORD TO COVER THE WAY IT FELT. ALMOST LIKE A JOLT OF ELECTRICITY FEELS WHEN YOU GET SHOCKED.

BOTH, BUT START UNDER THE ARM JUST DOWN FROM THE ARM PIT

ACCEPTED Check Mark

HI! Of course, these things are difficult to diagnose without an actual physical examination, however, the symptoms you describe can be caused by phlebitis or a blood clot in the arm. Have you been evaluated for this? If it were a small blood clot, especially deep in the arm, there may not be any discoloration of the skin. Do you ever notice a warm or cold patch below or where the sensation is located?

If this were a blood clot or phlebitis, there are medications that you physician can give you the "break up" the clot. Have you tried warm compresses or applying a heating pad to the area? The reason I ask, is since you mention that it has increased with onset of the cold weather, and that it disappeared for 5 months (warm months), it is possible that the vessel constriction caused by the colder temperatures makes it symptomatic. I hope you find this information useful! Donna RN
