Hi

The way to prevent transmission of herpes is not to have sex, when there is herpes outbreak .

Between the outbreaks , you can use condom , and have sex, as it can reduce the risk of transmission. The female condom provides wider coverage and might offer greater protection.

You should tell your partners that you have herpes before you have sex with them-even if you aren't having an outbreak and intend to use a condom.

Avoid sex, if herpes sores are present , even with condom. It is good that you are taking anti-viral medications, as they prevent transmission to sex partners. But this protection is not complete.
