My tongue hurts like it's been scalded, just the top forward third. I'm on multiple meds - Humira (tissue necrosis factor blocker), NSAID Clinoril, Darvocet, Elavil (75 mg to sleep), Welbutrin, and I was given a steriod shot one week ago. What might be causing this and what can I do about it?

Female, Age: 42, Michigan

Already Tried:
Gargle with salt water - no response. Gargle with alcohol containing mouthwash - stings a lot. Ignoring it - still there.

I regularly take B Complex to prevent canker sores. This doesn't seem to be related.

B complex will not really prevent glossitis, it is given only as a supportive measure. You could be having an infection of the tongue. Please use the antiseptic mouthwash Hexidine, use it thrice daily. If it persists, then you need to show your doctor, you may need prescription antibiotics.
