My 23 year old son has acute anxiety is there anything I can do to help him besides therapy and meds. Is there a treatment facility that deals with anxiety (where he doesn't want to leave the house) anywhere? Or is that something that is not done for this disorder? He has been severe for over a year. Is there a clinic anywhere that deals with this more aggressively?

Is he under the care of a psychiatrist?

Is he recieving any medicines for this?

Is it inconvenient to take care of him in the house?

He goes to a group that consults with therapist, psychitrist, and stays in touch with the doctor. To what degree they do that I'm not sure. He is on some meds, I do not know what they are. I do know it is an anti depressent. It is not so much inconvenient to care for him as at times it causes a lot of problems within the family. His 9 yr old sister does not understand why he does not have any friends or goes anywhere. We are financially paying for all medical and anything else he needs. His self worth is down the drain.

You may consider a second opinion.

A university or a teaching hospital in general has a wider range of patients and also has more access to the latest research. The university of Colorado also has a well acclaimed psychiatry department. You can take your son there for consultation.
