There are various causes for sweats, the menopause is certainly one and you are of the correct age to be getting some symptoms.
Classical meopausal sweats occur thru the night , other symptoms of hot flushes occur thru the day. Cyclical irreularity ( longer gaps) , vaginal dryness( not if you are on an estrogen containing pill) and bladder symptoms make up the remainder of the physical symptoms.
Post prandial sweats ( after food) are less likely to be menopasual and could suggest diabetes or a liver/stomach problem.
If I saw you in my consultation room I'd certainly want to check your FSH,LH, glucose,liver function, cbc and kidney funtion.
