hi i am a 48 year old woman..menapause or just me? shortly after every meal i break out in a sweat. i think its just i am getting older and my metabilism as slowed but just after eating it kicks in. is this what is happening?   jan

There are various causes for sweats, the menopause is certainly one and you are of the correct age to be getting some symptoms.
Classical meopausal sweats occur thru the night , other symptoms of hot flushes occur thru the day. Cyclical irreularity ( longer gaps) , vaginal dryness( not if you are on an estrogen containing pill) and bladder symptoms make up the remainder of the physical symptoms.

Post prandial sweats ( after food) are less likely to be menopasual and could suggest diabetes or a liver/stomach problem.

If I saw you in my consultation room I'd certainly want to check your FSH,LH, glucose,liver function, cbc and kidney funtion.
