Without using date of last menstrual cycle, if I had intercourse on Aug 18, 2006 and then had an abdominal ultrasound (empty bladder) on August 21, 2006 (4.6 wks later) would it be possible to have for the baby's heart beat to be seen and the CRL to measure at 14mm?

Hello,

Yes it is possible to detect baby's heart by an expert sonographer preferably on transvaginal examination.

Reply to Dr Anil Munjal's Post: I meant to say had ultrasound on September 21, 2006. It was not a transvaginal ultrasound used. Could it be presumed that I would be further along than 4.6 weeks from date of intercourse then? (Aug 18th) A regular ultrasound would not detect those signs as early as that right?
