Not yet as you are entering the age frame where alot of hormonal changes can occur with pre-menopause. Hormonal changes can easily occur from stress, weight loss or gain, medication, or due to the start of pre-menopause. If this is the first time this has occured then I would monitor your next cycle and also for any signs of further changes such as abdominal pain or cramping, heavy bleeding, pain with intercourse, odorous discharge, or even the absense altogether of a menstrual cycle which could signify a need for a pelvic examination. If this is the only difference you have noticed then unless you have heavy bleeding which is considered going through more tha six pads or tampons in six hours then there is not yet a sign to be concerned. But if you do start having any of the above signs or the bleeding is very heavy then it is best to monitor your next cycle for normalcy. A change in your cycle is usually the first sign of pre-menopause and this may be the only thing you see for months, then the hot flashes, irritability, sleeplessness and more may start as well but for now in this case it is best to monitor your cycles to see if a pattern develops. The normal cycle has the heaviest days on the second and third day so this is normal. But do not be worried yet just monitor for now.
