(Not a Health Question?)

What can I do to slow the flow of a very heavy period within 24 hours?

Sent to Health Experts March 31 09:38 PM

My husband is about to come home from deployment and I started my period yesterday. It is very heavy and I had a rough night last night dealing with the "Gushing", having to change clothing twice. I just wanted to know if there was something I could take to slow it down so I could have a nice night with my husband.

kjefferson,

There are ways to prevent a period, but once a period has started, there is no way to stop it. If your period is that heavy where you are changing one or more pads or tampons in an hour or less, then you need to go to the ER as this is too much bleeding which can also lead to anemia. The only other option is to go to your drug store and pick up some Insteads. Insteads are a menstrual cup that can safely be left in place for up to 12 hours. They can also be left in during sex.
