I have an unusual odor coming from my vagina before and after my period, is this abnormal? I also have odd discharge coming from my vagina before my period, I am not sure what that is from. I am sexually active in a long term relationship. I have been diagnosed with HPV the one that causes cervical cancer. I am not sure what to do!

Reply to Lindie's Post: It's a milky white, kind of thick, a week or so ago there were small hard lumps in the discharge. It smells like normal but, very pungent and strong. It doesn't have an odd fishy smell or any thing. it's just very strong. I can smell it when I am walking around like normal. I know thats gross.

You may have a yeast infection. Some woman are more prone during menstruation due to hormone changes. However with you also douching, this can cause the pH balance in the vagina to change and have the bad bacteria to take over. Douching is not recommended unless 100% needed and should only be done on a rare occurrence. So do stop doing that. If there is no change in the next few days, I would follow up with your doctor. In the mean time do start eating yogurt, and even do this prior to and after you cycle. If you normally wear pads, if you are able to, try tampons or try a different pad.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and please take a moment to leave me *POSITIVE* feedback.

Your response helps alot. Although there is another occuring problem, I recently became a veegan, I am sure this is where my problem began. My body, about 8 months ago began rejecting dairy product. I was a vegetarian prior to that. So is there an alternative to yogurt to help my situation?
Thanks so much,
Katie

The reason for the yogurt is that is has L. Acidophilus. You can also get this in a supplement form from your local health store too.

Hope this helps
