Is there any way to lessen the flow of menstruation?

I am currently taking progesterone 10 days/monthly for hormone replacement and missed a few months a while back. This is my second month back on it and my flow is outrageous! I'm going through tampons (largest size) every 45 minutes. Is there anything i can do to help this slow down some?
