skin breakouts do to mold growth

My husband had fairly nice skin when I meet him, but then he got a new job that works closely by the Chattahocee River, doing HVAc. (which means he deals a lot with homes and apartments). He has large dark scaley marks all over his body that really irratate him. Anything he can find he will scratch his body with, and then he has open wounds. I want to know is this matter do to him working in molding buildings and how can we treat it?
