How long does Darvacet stay in your system. My son was given one for pain yesterday by his uncle who has a prescription for it and now he is afraid that if he is drug tested for work it will show up. How long does it stay in the system or what should he do?

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy), thanks for using Just Answer for your question. My name's Gloria and I'm online now to help you. I am researching this right now for you.

How many hours ago did he take the Darvocet?

He only took one?

What kind of pain did your son take it for? (Does he need a prescription for himself?)

Write me back with your answers, I'm online now to help. Thanks, Gloria

only one

he has been working construction for 14 days and his body was aching from bending, squatting, climbing daily duties as a carpenter. He is extremely tired. He is going to be working strainght through with no days off until Christmas Eve.

I do not think that he needs a prescription

He is worried because yesterday at his job they had a random testing done on some employees and he is just worried that may have another testing and he may be one to get tested.

Thanks!

Glenda, thanks for being so patient in waiting for your answer.

It takes 7-10 days for Darvocet to get out of someone's system. So, drug tests would show that he took a Darvocet for 7-10 days after he took it.

As a nurse, I have to say that he probably knows now that it wasn't a good idea and that prescriptions shouldn't be shared. Many people have done this at one time or another, but if he doesn't have a written prescription for himself, then he could possibly fail his drug test.

The best thing for him to do now, is to drink lots of water, as pills are water soluable. He can drink water, unsweetened tea, or cranberry juice. He should take a multivitamin daily. This should help it to flush out of his system faster. He should not take anymore, as this will delay it getting out of his system, and he does not have a prescription. If he feels that he needs one, he should talk to his doctor.

If you have anymore questions, please continue to ask- that's what I'm here for! Otherwise, if your are satisfied with this answer, and if I have helped you, please hit the accept button and leave positive feedback. Thanks, Gloria
