My neighbor is a mom of a 7 month old boy. She called me this morning to come look at a very fine rash that was on the baby's head and trunk. I am a nurse though rarely with infants. The baby was otherwise fine alert afebrile and energetic. I told her to watch it but that he seemed ok and not to worry unless he got a temperature. The reality is I'm not sure and want to check with you if she should be following up on this further. The baby has been receiving his immunizations as scheduled as far as I know. Thank you for responding to this.     JH

Yes you are actually correct and unless it starts to spread further or a fever arises then this is possible it is due to a possible allergic reaction, so she will want to try to pinpoint what the cause is should it continue or arise on a regular basis. Since he is not showing other signs of discomfort, fever, lack of appetite, or any other changes in behavior monitoring it is key and not considered an emergency unless a fever or possible throat swelling becomes apparent. If the rash becomes re-occuring they would want to have him seen so they can perform a skin test to determine if this is allergy related and pinpoint the cause but for now you have told her correct and the most important thing is to monitor and also watch for a cause whether it be food, laundry soap, or clothing allergy related.
