They probably want to remove it before it does cause problems.  As with any surgery there are risks of complications.  Bleeding, infection, negative reactions to anesthesia.  I have known many people who made it successfully through surgery most do.  Your surgeon will give you a paper to sign which will detail all of the risks of the particular surgery he/she is performing.  Read it and ask questions.  If you are afraid let the surgeon know.  A mass in the sinus area can enter the ear orbit as well as put pressure on the brain.  It would be best to have it removed.  Nurse Hope

The most common but rare complications include massive hemorrhage, cerebrospinal fluid leak, and orbital hematoma.   nasolacrimal (tear) duct obstruction is also a complication.  Again I must stress that these are rare and can be managed effectively.  The best thing you can do for yourself is to think positively!  Go into that surgery thinking only the best.  Have confidence in your surgeon!  I do not know what method he/she will use.  Is it endoscopic or direct?  Nurse Hope
