Good morning,

Hearing impairments contribute greatly to the slow development of speech in young children.

There are different levels of hearing loss.....mild, moderate, severe and profound.

Causes may have a genetic cause or result from infection. Some hearing loss can be medically or surgically corrected.

Hearing is at the basis of all speech development and if hearing is in anyway diminished or absent, speech becomes much more difficult to learn and understand.

Here is a website that will help to explain it in greater detail which I hope is helpful to you.
