Since having 3 children and then a tubal ligation, my periods have been heavy. Now pattern is that they are heavy for 4-5 days, stop for a day or two, then return for another few days. I have been having intermitten pain on the left lower side which seems to coincide with the mid-cycle, one time necessitated emergency room visit but nothing showed up on ultrasound. Could I have fibroids or endometriosis and is this cause for concern in light of no need for further fertility?

Hello,

Fibroids can be easily identi fied on ultrasound examination in more than 95% of cases

but endometriosis can sometimes be missed on ultrasound & then laproscopy should be considered if doubt ful of endometriosis.
