Unfortunately, childhood is no guarantee against heart problems. Another truth is that hearts with problems do not always act up on cue -- meaning that a 'clean' EKG is no guarantee that no heart problem exists.
Given the fact that your son continues to have symptoms -- and that they are often associated with physical exertion -- I believe that your concern is understandable and appropriate.
I suggest that you ask your son's doctor for a referral to a pediatric cardiologist -- or that you contact one directly and make an appointment for your son. If nothing shows up at the cardiologist office -- specifically request that your son be fitted with a cardiac halter -- which is a constant EKG monitor that is worn 24 hours a day by a patient -- increasing the chances of 'catching' problems which occur during normal activities.
