my 5 month old daughter had her 4 month

Sent to Health Experts October 21 02:27 AM

my 5 month old daughter had her 4 month immunizations at 4 month's. She didn't even run a temp. However, since then she can not sleep day or night. She sometimes screams for no apparent reason. She will not lay down in her bed over 30 minutes at a time. She goes 4-5 hours and sleep's 15 - 20. I work in the medical field myself and I know something is wrong. I am up all night and My Mom is up with her all day. MY baby is exhausted.    I have taken her to the pediatrician countless times. Thinking she must have and ear infection. They alway pronounce her healthy. I do not think they really believe me when I say she does not sleep. She is Lucky to get 4 out of 24 hours of sleep. That is in small incriments.   Please advise me. I am exhausted and started to become fearful that something serious is being overlooked.
Sincerely,
Crystal Hitt

Hi ,

sorry I went offline when I saw you were disconnected and I access the net only for a few hours. I saw your chat request only today. Sorry we are not allowed to access your email.

Coming to the point, there are several possibilities which came to my mind about your daughter. These were-

  • GERD
  • UTI

IF the WBC count is normal I guess UTI is ruled out. Another affliction of a child that age is GERD. It usually resolves on its own by 1-2yrs of age. If her doctors haven't ruled this out they should.

More information here http://www.webmd.com/content/article/97/104175.htm This is a fairly common cause where the baby cries excessively and is is very fussy basically because she is uncomfortable. I would suggest you to take her to a pediatric surgeon who would rule out any surgical causes like hernia and would also look into the GERD problem. A pediatric surgeon deals exclusively with the surgery aspect of pediatrics.

As for me I remain online during the time when its night in USA as I located in India. I know being a mother it may not be easy for you to access at odd hours. You can put in your queries here and I'll try to help you as musch as I can.
