my son is almost moths he has bad problems with his ears

my son is almost 11 moths. he has bad problems with his ears. what really bothers me is that every time he gets an ear infection, he gets extremly high fevers. last night we where at the hospital and he had a 105 temp. are his fever supposed to get that high or is there something more wrong then just his ears. it scares me to death. please help
