my son, who is 6 yrs old and in fine health has been complaining recently of a discomfort at the back base of his neck, he says it feels like either "water running slowly or bubbles popping" he has also been almost constantly shaking his head from side to side because, he says, this makes it feel better.

What the heck is this? My other son, who is 10, has Tourettes that is currently treated with medication, so my first reaction would be that my yournger son has Tourettes also. But my older son has never pinpointed one particular area with a definate description of his discomfort.

I took my youngest to our doctor and he decided that I should just take him to a psychiatrist for treatment.   But I can't see just totally ruling out the physical symptoms like that.   Any ideas?
