My 4 yr old son is scared to poop on the potty.

My 4 yr old son is scared to poop on the potty. He's been potty trained to pee on the potty for almost a year. We let him poop in a pull-up for a while hoping he'd eventually go on the toilet. Now that he has just turned 4, all the diapers are gone. But now he is sneaking outside to poop! Any suggestions?
