Rubella Vaccine
Sent to Health Experts June 23 10:19 AM

My infant was given the MMR vaccine at 2 days old by error at the hospital instead of the 12 month CDC/FDA guidlines. What ill affects should I be looking for? and is this harmful now or in the long term?

Please help!

Reply to Jon Fay's Post: The hospital called 6/22 after finding out their mistake and are investigating how this could have happened. The doctor ordered the Hepititus B vaccine and the nurse gave her the MMR vaccine instead. I really need to know what effects this rubella vaccine will have on a 2 day old baby since the vaccine is to be given at the 12 month age. No one has the answer to this questions: What happens to a infant that is given the MMR vaccine? What are the precautions of an infant getting the vaccine? Were there any studies done to prescribed this vaccine be given only after 12 months of age?

These are simple questions and I can't get one answer, not even from the manufacturer, Merck.

I appreciate your response to my initial question but it only requires a very simple answer. What happens!

Thank you,
