my 6 month old baby boy has pubic hair on his testicles i am waiting results of blood tests and he has got to go for brain scan. please could you tell me what it could be?

Hi

It's possible he is producing too much testosterone.

These tests will be to

1. Confirm that this is the case or not.
2. If the blood tests are indeed positive then other test ( inc CT ) will be needed to locate the source of the extra testosterone.

I'm afraid that depends ,very much, on the cause of your sons symptoms.

I can give you more detail , if you insist, but you'd be better to speak face to face with your own Dr AFTER the results are back.
In my experience there is little to be gained by dwelling too much on "worst case sceanarios."

Hi

There are several potential causes.

1. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia ( specifically 21-hydroxylase deficiency), an enzyme deficieny that is treated with hormones.

2.Idiopathic- no cause found

3.A testicular tumor- uncommon in children and usually benign.

There are other potential causes.

my 6 month old baby son as got pubic hair growin on his testicles,can you please tell me what it could be he as had bllod tests done and urine sample taken i am waiting for the results but it could take up to 4 weeks also if there is somthing found in his blood they will do mri scan thankyou for your time
