Sent to Health Experts July 31, 2006 9:07 a.m.

I am breastfeeding my 8 month old son and am in a awful cycle of getting clogged milk duct with engorgement when I try to cut out feedings. The introduction of baby food is when this seemed to start when his feedings started to decrease. WIth the clogged ducts I place him back to breast more often to fix the problem and then once it is better about a week or two later I have the same problem again after going back to our regular feeding schedule. I nursed my first child for 1 year and never had this problem. Why am I having such problems now? I am taking a progesterone only pill for birth control and am wondering if it just isn't time to wean and switch to nuvaring. Will it help dry up my breast milk if I swich to formula and is it safe with gradual weaning? Thanks.
