My daughter is 9 years old, she started complaining about her left breast hurting, this was about 7 months or so ago. I took her in to the pediatrician and he said that it was a breast bud forming. You could feel a small knot there. But nothing in the other breast. Now a few days ago, she has started complaining a lot about that same breast. She says it really hurts - she bumps it, etc. Today before she got in the shower I looked at it. It (the nipple) is purplish in color and ofcourse more fuller than the other. Absolutely nothing is happening to the other breast. Is this normal, just a part of puberty, or should I be concerned? Ofcourse I do not recall what it all feels like - I just was a little concerned because it just stopped and now starting over again, this time a little more intense. Still the same knot there too.
