Sent to Health Experts February 15, 2007 11:50 a.m.

I HAVE AN ALMOST EIGHT YEAR OLD SON. SINCE HE WAS A TODDLER, WE NOTICED THAT HE WAS ULTRA SENSITIVE WITH CERTAIN THINGS. EX:HE HATED YOGURT AND ANYTHING "GOOPY", IT MADE HIM GAG, AFRAID OF HEIGHTS, HE FLAPS HIS ARMS WHEN HE IS HAPPY AND EXCITED. RECENTLY, I HAVE NOTICED THAT HIS HEARING IS SENSITIVE. HE HOLDS HIS EARS WHEN HE FLUSHES THE TOILET, A DOG IS BARKING AND OTHER LOUD NOISES. HE IS VERY SOCIAL, FRIENDLY, AFFECTIONATE AND DOES VERY WELL IN SCHOOL. HE IS NOT VERY ATHLETIC, BUT MORE OF A COMPUTER GEEK. HE AND HIS FRIENDS LOVE TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES. I DON'T THINK HE IS AUTISTIC, BUT HAS SOME TRAITS. MY QUESTION IS, DO YOU THINK HE NEEDS TO BE IN SOME KIND OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY OR SOMETHING. MY PED. TOLD ME SHE THOUGHT HE WOULD GROW OUT OF A LOT OF IT AND TO A DEGREE HE HAS, BUT I JUST NOTICED THE HEARING SENSITIVITY. THANKS, MELANIE

IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT SEVERE. HE IS VERY OUTGOING AND SOCIAL. HE IS ALSO VERY FLEXIBLE TO CHANGE. HE JUST SEEMS OVERLY SENSITIVE WITH HIS HEARING AND HEIGHTS, MAINLY. HE IS A GOOD EATER AND NOT VERY PICKY. AS I ASKED IN MY ORIGINAL QUESTION, COULD OCC.THERAPY HELP? THANKS, MELANIE
