Hello,I am somewhat concerned that I have red eyes
Sent to Health Experts June 11 04:17 AM

Hello,

I am somewhat concerned that I have red eyes that have been irritaed, itchy, and painful in the moring when I wake up and has been going on for 14 days. My kids both have had pink eye but my doctor says he doesn't believe I have pink eye. I don't have any discharge besides periodic tears and the cherry colored eyes. Also I have used allergy drops as well as homeopathic drops to help alleviate my symptoms with little success. Is it possible I have pink eye? If I don't go to a doctor for treatment is there a risk if blindness. I already experience double vision from my M.S. so I'm concerned about vision problems. Thank you.

Optional Information:
Male, Nevada

Already Tried:
Allergy drops, Homeopathic drops called Similasan. Went to primary doctor that says it's allergies but both kids had pink eye, treated for it with anti-biotics and next day were fine.

I spend maybe 2 hours a day if that.

Wow, this helps greatly, thank you so much for being so thorough. So since there is a lack of discharge besides tears and the regular hard stuff, I shouldn't be in any risk of anything serious such as possible blindness without an anti-biotic. Also, since my kids both had Pink eye recently, do you think that it's a coincidence due to your observation of my medication as well as allergenic conditions in our area possible related to a series of rainstorms causing pollen to be in the high?

Thank you.

With the lack of discharge making bacterial infection less likely as the cause then you are less at risk of complications from that. Also many doctors believe that minor eye infections do not actually need antibiotics.

The time of year means that allergic conditions are very common just now. The fact that you take allegra means that most allergic symptoms are kept in check but people often need eye drops on top of tablets.

So I would not worry too much. The combination of your medication does have an effect of reducing secretions in eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes so this could be making the eyes worse. Certainly using a lubricant will make them feel more comfortable.

Regards
