Question

yasmin side effects

Sent to Health Experts September 13, 2005 5:48 p.m.

I have been on Yasmin for a year. Due to the recent hurricane though, I have not taken the pill for 4 days. I was only on the first week of my pills (so my period was last week), but today, the 4th day of not taking them, I started bleeding. Is this a side effect of the pill, or the lack there of the pill. Or is it my body thinking my period should be starting. Or is it a sign of pregnancy?

It's withdrawal bleeding and is normal when you stop taking the pill. I'm on Yasmin as well, and I had lost my pills during a move and started my period in the middle of my second week.

If you believe that you could be pregnant, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test to be sure before you go back on the pill. Otherwise, I would just assume that this is a normal period due to "withdrawal" from the hormones in the pill.

Hope this helps!
