Question

for the past week or so my sleeping habits have been off

Sent to Health Experts January 02, 2006 5:35 p.m.

For the past week or so, my sleeping habits have been off the wall. In fact most of those days (including today) I've been going to bed around 3am and waking up by nearly 4pm. Unfortunately the honeymoon's over and I have to get back to work and get things done. I have 3 appointments tomorrow in fact. Anyhow I would like to purposely get up early and likely not get much sleep in order to "force" myself to go to bed early tomorrow night so I can try and get myself back on track.

Is a lack of sleep, especially a temporary one harmful to an unborn baby? I'm used to pushing through days without sleep pre-pregnancy but now I have someone other than myself to think about! Any information is greatly appreciated, thank you!

As long as it's not a constant thing (days, weeks) then to get yourself switched is fine. Actually toward the end of pregnancy most woman are uncomfortable and excited therefore do not get much sleep. So the main thing is to just relax and rest. So even though you may be pushing yourself to get back on track, just take 15-20 min throughout the day and rest. Have a cup of tea kind of resting..

Hope that helps.
