I am having a very dark and thick dishcharge. Almost the consistency of tar, it also has somewhat of an odor and has been going on for about 8 days now. It started the day I was supposed to start my period but my periods usually only last 5 days. Also I am currently on the pill and at the end of the last cycle instead of waiting a week and taking no pills, I continued with the next set of pills. I had a pap smear a few months ago and it came back abnormal, but the doctor recommended to have another one in 6 months and that everything should be fine. So I am concerned because I don't know why I am having this discharge and why it is lasting so long. Is it because of taking the next set of pills, or could it be due to the abnormality of the pap smear, or could it mean that I am pregnant? I really don't know, and also don't know how I can fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

buy a pregnancy test first off, do the test with the first morning urine, if negative, the continued bleeding is most likly from taken the second set of pills. if the bleeding continues for another 24 hours go to your primary doctor and get your blood count done, you can become anemic due to the loss. if the color changes to a bright red with abdominal pain go to the ER.
