I am currently seven weeks and five days pregnant. My ob/gyn has been monitoring my hcg levels as I have had two previous miscarriages, including one last January. At my last appt at seven weeks exactly, on the doppler ultrasound, I measured a few days off, but the heartbeat was seen. The following day (Friday) I was notified that my progesterone level had dropped from 11 to 8.2. The doctor put me on 100mg of progesterone, vaginally inserted each evening.

On Friday afternoon, I ended up being hospitalized for what I thought was stomach flu, but ended up being severe morning sickness (as I experienced in all of my pregnancies.) After sharing my medical history, they drew blood and my hcg quantitative was 39075.7. The doctor spoke with the ob/gyn, and then shared they were both "heartened" by that.

I am now taking Zofran 3x daily for nausea. I go Friday for another ultrasound and a blood test.

My question is this: because my progesterone dropped to 8.2, does this indicate I'm losing this baby too? Are there odds available for this? What I need are STRAIGHT answers, my doctors have just asked me to wait until Friday and "not dwell on it." I have no desire for any false hope, just a confirmation the baby will most likely not survive. I prefer to deal with staright facts, hard as it may be, rather than remain in limbo.

Seeing the heartbeat on ultrasound is reassuring and a very good sign. I don't think that the slight drop in progesterone means anything because blood levels fluctuate all the time. I think it does indicate the need for extra progesterone. I think that a drop in Hcg levels would be a bad sign.
Now, if you are taking supplemental progesterone, it won't matter what your blood levels are. Supplemental progesterone will not show up in the blood. Ask your doctor if taking the progesterone twice a day would be an option for you. I remember I took Crinone with one of my pregnancies and it was twice a day until 12 weeks, then once a day until 14 weeks.
The doctors have said not to dwell on it because the truth is that nobody can know if you will lose the pregnancy. It really is impossible to tell. Your Hcg level is really good. You see a heartbeat. You are taking progesterone. You know you are doing all you can, so now you need to relax - hard as that may be. That is the best thing for you and the baby. Enjoy this moment with your baby - no matter what else may happen. Because there is no way to prevent a miscarriage if it will happen. If a pregnancy is meant to end, it will do so in spite of the progesteone supplement or anything else you try to do. I am speaking from experience and I know how difficult this is for you but you've got to try and you need to have hope.
