Question

Post Pregnancy Problems(eg. bleeding, pain)

Sent to Health Experts August 23, 2004 7:06 p.m.

I had a C-section(May the 7th, 04) then a D&C (July 16th)for retained placenta(they were sketchy on if it was placenta), anyway... the other day I had to go to the ER(we were there 11 hours!), I was having severe pain and cramping and bleeding(not a lot of blood, but blood non-the-less). Well, I called my doctor, she took 30 minutes to call me back and when she finally did she told me not to go to the ER. No fever, no ER. Then she said if you are in a lot of pain to come in. I told her I WAS and that's why I called and she reluctantly said ok to come in. I never did see her or any doc from that office. We waited for 1.5 hours in the waiting room, then they took some blood and some urine. That took forever! Then they did a pap to check for infection. He was feeling inside around my cervix and it is more sore on one side, inside and on the outside. So he thought my apendix had to come out. They gave me some nasty pepto tasting stuff to drink for a Cat Scan. They hooked me up to an IV for some more specail fluid to fill my veins so they could see if any veins were damaged. Well, after waiting forever and a day, it all came back normal. There is a small amount of error involved in a Cat Scan, but they seemed confident that everything was fine. He called my doctor and told her the results and she thought maybe I have a fibroid or something like that that the Cat Scan didn't detect. She finally decided it must be a uteran infection. Well, the doctor that saw me at the ER said he checked for that with the pap and there was no sign of infection, but he gave me antibiotics and some pains pills and sent me home. I didn't get an answer and I don't think I will from them. Something throuout this whole thing is not right. From the very begining I didn't bleed for 4 days after the C-section..one nurse commented that that was a good thing! Then after that I spotted a tiny bit. I never did bleed like I was supposed to and to me that showed that something was wrong there. Then in July I start passing bright red blood and a huge clot and got a fever...I called them and they said not to come in(UG!). I sat down on the toilet and hot blood poured out of my vagina. I went to the doctors office the next morning. I was having trouble walking and everything. They sent me in that day for a D&C. Before the D&C the bleeding got worse. And this whole time they have told me it really isn't anything, that I am ok. I was feeling great after the D&C! Besides being sore of course. Then all of the sudden I started feeling bad again. I just don't feel right. I was spotting and spotting. I accidently ran in to the nurse that set up my D&C and she asked how I was and I told her about the spotting and the yellow fluid like blood comeing out. She said that was fine and I could bleed for another three weeks, well she told me that 3 weeks before that! Fast forward to what happened recently with the ER. Does this sound "normal" or not a big deal to any of you? I think this is rediculess! I called a lawyer today to see if I have a case and they said they will get back to me tomorrow. Do you think I have a case? I mean come on, missing placenta after a vaginal birth, ok...but after a C-section while they are looking inside? Aren't they supposed to look for missing pieces? Could this all be the intern's fault...she said she was going to "assist in the C-section if it was alright with me", I thought fine, "assist". Well, she did most of the work. I couldn't see but I heard him instructing her on everything. I need to find another OBGYN to see this week but no one can see me until October. I haven't called them all yet, but I am just so frustraited.
