My period is now two weeks late and for a week now I have been experiencing lower back pain. Today I also noticed that I am spotting. It's a pinkish brown color and it's very very light. Not even like a light menstrual cycle. It's just a couple of spots here and there. Could I be pregnant or is it early stages of pms??

jemichele4,

It's a possibility that you could be having implantation bleeding, but the only way to know for sure is to see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is the most accurate way of testing. Other reasons for period abnormalities can include hormonal imbalance, stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, illness, infection, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. If the blood test comes back negative, your doctor can do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

Reply to Annie's Post: Is the lower back pain associated with implantation bleeding?? And if I am pregnant and two weeks late from my period should I be experiencing any other symptoms??

jemichele4,

It's a possibility that the pain could be associated, and the doctor might even possibly check to make sure it is not an ectopic. Pregnancy signs and symptoms occur either at the time of a missed period, or a week or two later. Symptoms include missed period, fatigue, tender and swollen breasts, implantation bleeding, nausea and or vomiting, food aversions, frequent urination, and increased sensitivity to odors. Not everyone experiences symptoms, and some people feel some but not all symptoms.
