I recently went to my obgyn due to a positive pregnancy test and current itch problem. I was given a treatment for yeast, but told some white blood cells were present. I asked him what that meant and he stated it was common in pregnant women. I then said, "If I wasn't pregnant what would it be?" His answer was something like ecoli, I don't know the spelling. I am afraid I am being treated for one thing but not for another. When I was pregnant before my doctor gave me a pill which I think was for the same thing I have now. What does it mean to have white blood cells present in the vagina? What are my risk since I am in the first stage of my first trimester?

Hello

You should know in a day or two if the yeast medicine is going to help you. If not, you will have to go back and get further evaluated. The doctor really should have looked at the fluid under a microscope or cultured it. And they may have, but this takes a few days to get the results.

Again, if you aren't feeling better in a few days, give the doctor a call again.

WBC's in your vagina are normal if there is an infection, yeast, or virus present. Not to worry.

Congrats on your news!

Kerry
