I wore a new pair of shoes and got a blister. This was 2 days ago. Yesterday it broke and was weeping - I poured peroxide on it and let it breath all day. overnight I put a bandaid on it with some hydrocortizone. This morning around my blister ( the size of a small pea) its all red and tender - maybe an inch to inch and a half away in two directions - should i go to the doctor tomorrow or the emergency today - I only am overly causius because i am 11-12 weeks pregnant
Thanks!

Hydrocortisone was not necessary for this type of problem. In fact, it can actually delay healing so only use hydrocortisone where there is an inflammatory reaction to something such as chemical, toiletries etc, or for mild eczema.

Also being pregnant, you sould not use any products with an active ingredient unless your doctor has cleared it first. Using hydrocortisone once on a small area will have done no harm to the baby but these products should only be used in pregnancy with a doctors permission.

From your description, unless the wound area is significantly red and hot, then it is probably not infected at the moment. This is not something I would take to the doctor unless its starts weeping coloured fluid. The clear fluid after a blister is quite harmless and is a result of trauma to the heel from your shoes. If the red colour doesn't start to go down over the next day or so, then see your doctor but the skin should start to heal. Don't use any more peroxide on it as this will disturb the growing tissue.

A hydrocolloid dressing would be a good idea as this will form a second skin and improve speed of healing.

Like i stated the area around the blister (which is straight down from my big toe on side of my foot) is red around it about an inch or 2 and is not really hot but warm . Its red on top of my foot to about my 3rd toe over and is noticebly inflammed. can this heal its self or do i need an antibiotic and will this wait till tomorrow.

If this is giving you cause for concern, and there is some heat there then it will need looking at. If the redness has spead more since getting up this morning, or there is swelling to that area then pop down to ER. Otherwise it will be fine leaving it till tomorrow.

Although keeping it elevated is a good idea, you also need to ensure that you keep mobile as in pregnancy you have a theoretical increased risk of DVT.

Do remember to remindl the doctor that you are pregnant as some antibiotics are better in pregnancy than others.

Regards
