does birth control affect home pregnancy test accuracy?

I am currently on birth control. Me and my boyfriend have unprotected sex and he doesn't cum in me but just outside. For a while I have been feeling very tired, nauseated, my stomach seems to be permanently bloated and I have been very irritable with cravings. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative, but I'm wondering if the birth control is affecting the test.
