I went to the Dr. 2 days ago and was asked to take a pregnancy test. It came back positive, however, I have taken 3 tests at home since and they are all negative. My period would be scheduled to start on Sunday. What are the chances that the Dr. had a test that could read lower levels of hcg than an at home test?
Thanks

You are absolutely right , the blood test done at the doctors clinic is more sensitive than the urine pregnancy test done at home,
I am confident that over the next few days, your UPT at home should start coming positive too,

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: Thank you for your time. However, I don't think I was very clear. The Dr.'s pregnancy test was not a blood test, it was a urine test as well. I took that at 5pm on Monday night. Today (Thurs. morning) I took another test first thing and it is still negative. I know this is all premature considering I wouldn't start my period until Sunday, but I was just curious to see if the tests (urine) that Dr's perform are better at detecting the hcg levels than my HPT. Is it possible that the HPT just are not picking up the hormones as of yet?
Thanks

Thanks for the clarifications, well there are certain urine pregancy kits that claim to have a higher sensitivity than normal (detecting utpo 10 IU of HCG rather than 25-50 which is usual) but generally there should not be any significant clinical difference.
Without knowing the exact kit being used by you and your doctor, it would be difficult to comment..
As you have yourself stated, I believe that waiting for a few days should solve your problem,
All the best,
