Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy), welcome to JA. I'm very sorry to hear about your condition. You sound very very ill, and I wonder if you have considered postponing your attempts to become pregnant, only temporarily, to address this very serious concern, and you obviously excruciating pain? Certainly, any treatment you explore should involve preserving your fertility, but attempting pregnancy while in this state will jeapordize your health and well being. Have you had laporoscopy, to explore the extent of organ/tissue/muscle involvement?
Finally, just to clarify: you are seeking information on endeometriosis, and potential treatment options, correct?

I have not had the laporoscopy although i have seen a specialist at Penn State Hershey Medical Center who vaguely brought it up...but said that he thought i should have no problem getting pregnant and that i should give it at least six months before "jumping the gun on surgery".
we have been trying for about 5 months and i get so much anxiety about how bad will it be.. do i have to call of work...etc.
so to answer your Question Yes I am seeking Information on endemetriosis and potential treatment options and any other possible info on helping our chances of conceiving.(I have been tracking my ovulation and i have been ovulating almost exactly 14 days after my periods and folling doctors advice about prenatals and all...)

I don't doubt you are commited to a healthy pregnancy, and you sound like you are doing all the right things to ensure one. However, considering your symptoms, pregnancy at this time should not be your first priority. A healthy pregnancy starts with a healthy mother. Perhaps the Penn State Physician did not fully realize the pain and other symptoms you are enduring every month, and thought infertility was to sole cause for seeking treatment.
Conservative surgery, in addition to relieving many of your symptoms and providing the best understanding of the extent of your endometriosis, (and any other potential causes for your symptoms), can also increase your chances of conceiving naturally. The scarring from this type of surgery is limited, especially compared to the scar tissue and endometrial tissue that is removed. Excellent information may be found on Mayo Clinics' info site at:

I doubt the pain, and recovery time involved in this procedure will compare with what you endure every month as it is! __________________ I hope my information is helpful. If you have more questions, just ask! I will gladly help, otherwise please click "accept".

I'm happy to help!
The procedure may be done out patient, either in a Hospital or ambulatory surgery center. You will check in, usually 1-2 hours before the procedure's scheduled time and may be given a mild sedative to help you relax before the procedure. Once in the operating room, you'll be given a general anesthesia. The laparoscopy, usually lasts less than an hour, and you'll be monitored in a recovery area for several hours before discharge home. Once home, it takes two to three days to recover, unless the tissue removed is substantial or complicated, in which case 10 days is average. Laparoscopy risks include bleeding and infection, and general anesthesia caries certain reisks and side effects as well. Your doctor and anesthesiologists will discuss the risks with you before the procedure.
During the procedure your surgeon inflates your abdomen with a harmless gas so your pelvic organs are easier to see, then places the laparoscope through a tiny incision in or near your naval. A second tiny incision may be made for insertion of other instruments, such as a probe to move organs. Most surgeons will use a video camera attached to the laparoscope to enhance the view. Your doctor may take a tiny bit of tissue from one or more areas of tissue, to send to a lab for analysis. After the procedure, the gas is released, and your incisions are closed with sutures.
Pain following surgery is minimal, however your condition may cause more discomfort than average. You will be prescribed pain medication, and an anti-nausea medication following surgery. You should have a heating pad, and an OTC gas relieving medication (Simethicone)ready for your recovery at home.
Prognosis/results are generally very good for pain relief and improved chances of natural conception.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance-and thank you for trusting me with your question!
