My daughter in-law had two embryos implanted 5 weeks ago.

My daughter in-law had two embryos implanted 5 weeks ago. Her "numbers" were high and everything looked great. Now her numbers are falling and her progesterone level is falling even though she in getting shots of progesterone. This is the second time this has happened. What actually is happening and is there any reason why after 5 weeks this happens? The doctors tell her they can't find a reason for it. Is the bottom line, she can get pregnant but her body rejects the baby or what? Thank you for any information you can give me.

It sounds as though she is having a successful inplantation but for whatever the reason the egg is not forming and could be related to what is called a blighted ovum where the sac forms but a baby does not form in the sac. It may also be as you are saying that her body is rejecting the implantation and they may need to have her on bed rest after the implantation to allow the pregnancy to get further along before she becomes active and could actually reject the procedure. If her numbers are high and everything looks fine after the procedure they do need to determine why her body is not allowing the pregnancy to continue. It may be that they need to increase her dosage of the progesterone as well so this is also something to consider as well as determining if there is any abnormality in he cervix that is not allowing her body to accept the implantation.
