(Not a Health Question?)

Hello,
Sent to Health Experts September 23 06:50 AM

I am having pain in the lower right side of my abdomen. It started yesterday afternoon, and has not gotten worse, but not better either. It hurts more when I take a deep breath. And this morning I am slightly nauseous. Do I need to go to the ER?

Reply to Pauline's Post: Hi Pauline,
The pain is constant, but sometimes dull, and sometimes shooting. It almost feels like a charlie horse in my side, near my hip bone. I do not have fever, but I am tender to the touch, and sitting makes it more noticeable. My health is great otherwise

Thanks for the reply. There are several causes of lower right sided pain. The first we think about is appendicitis and if you develop any fever or vomiting then you need to go direct to ER for immediate treatment. Also if the pain is made very painful with pressure.

Other causes include kidney stones and in this case the pain tends to be more 'colicky' while problems with ovaries or fallopian tubes can also be a problem in women. If you have been having intercourse then ectopic pregnancy needs to be ruled out.

Owing to the fact that you are tender to touch, this indicates underlying inflammation and I would like you to get assessed as soon as possible so as it is the weekend then I would suggest ER or an out of hours clinic..
