Paternity testing that is done during pregnancy is either done if you are having an amniocentesis done, or chorionic villi sampling. An amnio is usually done between 16 and 20 weeks. However, this type of testing is only done if your doctor deems that you are at an increased risk for genetic and chormosomal problems, for one thing, because this test is invasive and carries a small risk of miscarriage. CVS is done between 11 and 12 weeks, though some testing centers will do it as late as 13 weeks. This test also is only really done if you are at increased risk. After birth paternity testing can be done by performing a simple mouth swab test.

The idea is to find out who the father is. She is probably not at any increased risk for any genetic disorders, but the paternity part is the issue...
