Question

I am pregnant and only 6 weeks 3 days along. I am ...

Sent to Health Experts February 27 10:44 a.m.

I am pregnant and only 6 weeks 3 days along. I am experiencing slight bleeding, went to the doc for an exam and she put some ''medicine'' on a polyp that I had on the placenta. The next day I had an ultrasound that showed the babies placenta was in an hour glass/figure eight shape. My doctor said this is not good and that I needed a blood test to check if my hormone levels are doubling. I will be getting the 2nd blood test tomorrow, but in the mean time my mind is going crazy with possibilities....what is happening to me and my baby?

  • In a healthy pregnancy your Hormone lvels double almost daily for the fist 4-6 weeks then end up leveling out for the remainder of your pregnancy. If your levels are not gaining then this can be the sign that there could be a chance for miscarriage or that the fetus is developing normal in the sac. If they said that your babies placenta was in an hour glass or figure eight shape then this could mean that the pregnancy may not be able to be carried to term. I do not want to scare you but I do feel you need honest facts. Since you are experiencing some bleeding it is so very important for you to rest as much as possible and keep your feet elevated for the best chance that the pregnancy will not end in miscarriage or there be a need for a DNC. Stress can also be a factor that can cause miscarriage so even though I know it is hard try your very best to relax and stay as stress free as you can until you have the blood test performed again tomorrow and if your levels are not raising chances are the next thing they will want to do is send you for another ultrasound in another month to ensure that the fetus is developing normally.
