flymami07,
For those that are pregnant for the first time, the norm is around 4 or 5 months, but I have known some women who take even longer. Women who are not pregnant for the first time, tend to show sooner. I have known some who start showing within a month. It is very variable for everyone so there is no set normal.
As far as the fluttering, this is most likely your baby moving and kicking. At first the kicks you notice will be few and far between. In fact, you may feel several movements one day and then none the next. Although your baby is moving and kicking regularly, many of his jerks and jolts aren't yet strong enough for you to feel. But later in the second trimester, those kicks will become stronger and more regular. There are many descriptions of what it feels like- popcorn popping, fish swimming around, and butterflies fluttering. Some women also mistaken it for hunger pangs. You're more likely to feel it when you're sitting or lying quietly.
