Question

My girlfriend is on the Nuva ring, She has been ...

Sent to Health Experts May 25, 2006 2:58 p.m.

My girlfriend is on the Nuva ring, She has been on it for the past 4 months now, and it has worked great. This month we didn't keep the ring refrigerated, as it instructs. She put it in and 7 days later, she started spotting. It goes from a ligt pink color to a red flesh color. This has been going on now for about 14 days, and it will quit for a day or two and then start agaian. The spotting is never enought to reach her panties, but just enough to be anoying. She has another 6 days before her period is due. But I'm worried and so is she. She dosen't have any of the other symptoms of pregnancy, nausia, breast tenderness, or an icrease in urination. Could this just be mid cycle bleeding or could she be pregnant?

REPLIED Check Mark

Hi, Breakthrough bleeding and spotting are sometimes encountered in women using NuvaRing. If abnormal bleeding while using NuvaRing persists or is severe, appropriate investigation should be instituted to rule out the possibility of organic pathology or pregnancy, and appropriate treatment should be instituted when necessary. So i suggest to you to see your health care provider as soon as possible.

So in your best medical judgement. Without saying I should seek an answer from a physician. Do you think she is pregnant. The reason I don't want the you should seek a physian answers, is because my girlfriends Gynocolgist is my mother.
