It all depends on how long your cycles are. Ovulation usually occurs somewhere around the middle of your cycle, so for example if you have a 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs somewhere around the 14th day. Of course, the closer you are to ovulation, the better the chance is. Though the egg is only viable for 24 hours once released from the ovary, sperm can live up to 72 hours once ejaculated. So any intercourse at least 5 days before ovulation and 24 hours after, can definately lead to pregnancy. Though rare, some women do ovulate more than once during their cycle, and ovulation can occur other than right exactly in the middle of your cycle, so if you don't want to get pregnant your best bet is to use protection, as this will lower the odds.

well I usually start at the same time each month. so going by that I think I ovulate around the 4,5 or 6 of the month and if I was with a guy on the 27 of the previous month, what do you think the chances are?

ok that particular month what date was the first day of your period, and how many days long is your entire cycle- this way I can give you a more definitive answer as to when you ovulated.

ok, i either started on the 22, or 23 of the month which I do every month. I stopped bleeding on the 27 which was when I was with that guy. So I was on my period for about 4 or 5 days. But I always have that post period discharge, kinda brown stuff. that usually last for a couple days after my period.

Brown discharge is just old blood that the body is just trying to get rid of, so this is normal. If your period started on 05/22 and your cycle was 32 days, you ovulated around 06/09. If this would be the case, the chances of being pregnant would be slim to nil, since this encounter would have been about 13 days before ovulation.
