My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for two years (we have a four-year old daughter). I lost a baby at 12 weeks last July, and my period started again 1 1/2 months later. It jumped from 28 to 34 to 40 to 30 day cycles for a year. Now my cycle is 43 days (and counting!!!), and 3 pregnancy tests have shown negative results. Why am I not pregnant? Am I not ovulating? The ovulation sticks seemed to be working!

kendopama,

It's possible that you could be pregnant. Your best bet is to wait at least two weeks after a missed period, and see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is the most accurate way of testing. The length of a cycle can be due to many things, and the only way to know for sure exactly what is going on is to see your doctor for an exam and testing. Usually trying for a year or more warrants for both you and your partner to be checked out by your doctors, and possibly be referred to a fertility specialist.
