I am 13 weeks pregnant with my 4 child, i got up one night to go pee and i passed a huge blood clot, that resembled a big peice of liver, it was a little bigger than a grapefruit, and on the end had two prong like things with black blood around, like it may have been attached to something. i noticed on my underwear i had a grey discharge too. i didn't bleed anymore after that. I thought i had a miscarriage and went to the er, they did an ultrasound and the baby was fine, the mass of blood hadn't came from there, but where did it come from, i really want an answer for this, people don't just start dropping things out of them with no explaination, do they.

Hi,

I would recommend speaking to your OBGYN about a possible twin. This may very well explain the situation as you may have miscarried the twin and the other baby is fine. You are correct large clots of blood don't juts come out mysteriously. Your OBGYN may not have wanted to mention the possibility for fear of you becoming upset and causing unneeded stress on the other child.

While I am not saying this is definitely the cause it is the most likely cause. Another cause may be old blood that had simply built up on the uterus lining and just now released. (While a little slimmer as it would have been smaller then what you are mentioning it is still a chance)
