I have a 3 year old that was a premie and the only surviving triplet. Bot of his siblings died of Nec within 1 month. He has experienced difficulty with his bowl movements initially and has been slow in developing his chewing and other associate skills. We were able to get him to eat soft foods like pasta with sauce and mac & cheese. He eats mac&cheese almost every day. In the pst before he had a bowl movement, you could see that it was difficult, as thought the passing through caused pain or fear. He is constipated frequently. Some say that too much chees can contribute to this problem and I am wondering if the cheese and pasta could be part of the problem. Is this true? Is there something we should do/change in his diet to help reduce the constipation?
