What would cause itching in a specific area (in this case my legs) and then a bruise to appear. It''s a very different distinct type of itch, like from the inside out.....I can always tell I am getting a new bruise by the itching.

I have been tested for diabetes,(on several occasions, typically once a year) and my biological father's side of the family has a high rate of diabetes, including my nephew. Usually it's the upper part of my leg, the thigh area, and usually the outer part of my legs. On occasion my arms will do the same thing, but with out the severity of the brusing. The bruies don't usually hurt, and occasionally will have a lump underneath, but not always.

I have had several blood tests, with a history of ITP. my plateletts have been normal again for about 2.5 years, with the last check they were at 188000
I have been anemic several times, but am not currently. I had a positive ANA test last year but with further dilution of the test all was fine. University of Michigan, and an Immunologist both did like 14 blood tests with no real abnormalities in my thyroid, ect. or anything else. The dr. at UOM found I still had the antibodies for the ITP, and a negative ANA, but when the immunologist did the same test a year later, no antibodies, and a positive ANA. I do have a referral to mayo clinic but can not afford to go.

Do you have any other suggestions of tests that may be out of the norm(thinking outside the box) that they should consider.

Basically, you should ask the doctors to consider conditions that can affect the nerves - a nerve conduction test will of course help.

But you should get repeat tests of GTT, ANA, thyroid hormone level, vitamin b12 level etc.
